Food and Friends |
Food and Friends is a non-profit organization that delivers frozen meals and groceries to hundreds of clients in the Washington D.C. area. They specifically work with people living with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses. |

- During this rotation I was able to further understand the difficulties of living with HIV/AIDS and how nutrition plays a vital role in it's treatment.

- I was lucky enough to visit a few new clients with the dietitian there and explain to them how the delivery schedule worked and what types of foods they should be eating. It was great to finally put a face with a name and get a chance to talk with someone dealing with such a trying disease.

- I enjoyed working in the product areas, the kitchen and assembly line, helping fill orders.

- One of the most unique aspects of this rotation was the chance to get out into the community and deliver meals. Rather than sit in the office, I was able to accompany one of the regular drivers on her weekly route. I knocked on the door and met a smiling face, waiting for their supply of meals. It was a rewarding end to the rotation.
