2008 Maryland Food Stamp Nutrition Education(FSNE) Fall Conference   2010 USDA Dietary Guideline Advisory Committee Meeting, January 29th and 30th
Interns at FSNE Fall Conference   2010 USDA Dietary Guideline

In the fall I had the chance to attend the Maryland FSNE meeting. It was a great opportunity to hear about what was going on at the state level as well as meet and network with state nutrition educators.

At the end of January, I was able to attend the 2010 USDA Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee Meeting. This was a great learning opportunity and I was grateful to attend. Testimony was heard from industry representatives as well as individuals calling for change. The meeting gave me some insight on what will be researched for the upcoming revision of the Dietary Guidelines.

Not only did I get a chance to attend the MDA Annual meeting and hear about recent findings and trends, but I was also able to present my clinical case study poster. Many of the dietitians had great questions about my poster. Very few have dealt with a "Near total Esophagectomy with subtotal Gastrectomy".

I had a great time teaching the residents at Johnston Square about calcium (where it comes from, benefits and importance).
